Some Common Known Facts
- Opened in 1966.
- Originally known as Science Hall
.
- In 1997, re-named as Stewart Hall
; in honor of "Graham Stewart".
- With the aging of the two current Natural
Science structures: Stewart Hall and Bigelow-Rice, the need for an extension
and renovation
process was finally decided upon.
- The addition allows for the extra needed space and allows
housing of the Natural Sciences within a single building.
Hence, providing more natural interactions among the science departments
.
- The building on completion will be known as the
Science Center.
- The estimated cost for the project is about 35 million
dollars.
- At the Board of Trustees Meeting in June, President Courtice
announced the "naming gift" for the Science Center, a $10. million dollar
pledge from George ('61) and Patsy ('63) Conrades and David Wetherell ('76).
With these generous pledges the money raised for the project has reached
$27 million.
