Subject: Thanks!
As of noon today, of the 20x10 = 200 problem sets, 190 have been turned in. I am
dreaming that the remaining 10 will arrive, if not today, then in the next few
days (I won't know when things arrive since I will be in Denmark next week). It
would be nice to be able to tell future classes that this is not, in fact,
impossibly much work to expect everyone to do. I have checked my past records,
and I think that yours may be the best first year class that I have taught. It
is not just the quantity, but the uniformly high quality of work that is
impressive. Everyone has been turning in consistently solid work, with no
evident confusion, and the last assignments have come in better than the first
ones. That certainly has never happened before. I know that you have been
working together a lot, but I am confident that nobody has been turning in work
without truly understanding it. This is exactly the way that our program is
supposed to work, ideally, but it is not often that it works quite this well.

ps: Homeworks will be in my office if anyone wants them back.
