The purpose of this project is to use the study of cartography to portray different data sets about the chosen state, in my case WAshington and Oregon. Throughout the Fall 2009 Semester, I will have learned the many different ways in which I can display the data through maps.

The reason why I chose Washington is because I think that it is one of the most beautiful and geographically broad states with deserts to the East, mountain ranges in the center, and lush forests to the West. I hope to one day visit the state and especially Seattle and enjoy all of the great sites.

Oregon was chosen as a second state because I felt that demographically speaking, Washington may not produce enough information for me to use when creating maps. Therefore, I chose Oregon mainly due to the fact that it shares its northern border with Washington's southern border. Together, Washington and Oregon will provide me with enough demographic information to produce effective maps.
