Janice (Work) Smith received her MA from Ohio State University in Family Relationships. Janice retired in 1967 from University of Connecticut where she taught Child Development & Family Relationships. She had a book published in 1995 entitled "Adventuring Down The Waterway". She and her husband, Dr. Roland B. Smith, have one daughter Leslie, who is also an OWU graduate.

Leah (Benninghoff) Hubbard has two adult children both with masters degrees. Leah is retired, but spoke this winter to area church youth groups on "Ten Rules for Good Mental Health" based on the last chapter of her old textbook "Psychology of Adjustment" by Shaffer and Shoben.

Isabel Silverman received her MSW from University of Pittsburgh. Isabel is retired after 20 years of working with adults in a community mental health center. She currently represents social workers (NASW) on the Kentucky Mental Health Coalition.

Ruth (Sieker) Gardner received her MSW from Ohio State University. In 1992, Ruth retired from her private family counseling practice, based in Columbus, OH. Her son, Steve, graduated from OWU in 1979.

Hal Hendrick is a professor of Human Factors and is President Elect of Human Factors and Ergonomics Society. Hal received his Ph.D. in I/O from Purdue.

Shirley Austin is a lecturer in psychology at Butler County Community College. Shirley has an MS.Ed. from Duquesne University and a CAGS in School Psychology and currently lives in Ellwood City, PA.

Paul Kimmell is an Adjunct Faculty member at UCLA Saybrook Institute along with finishing a term as President of APA's Division of Peace Psychology. Paul received his Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Michigan.

Judith A. Meier and husband, Louis, have three daughters, one son, and four grandsons. Judith is the author of "Citizen Soldiers of Color: Biographical Sketches of Montgomery County Black Soldiers in the Civil War" which was recently honored with the Award of Merit by the Pennsylvania Federation of Museums and Historical Organizations.

Mary (Welch) Pryde is a retired CPA. Mary and her husband, William, have 3 children and live in Tucson, AZ.

Sandra Norman Corbett lives in Oakland, ME and is a family therapist at Mid Maine Medical Center. Sandra received her MA degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from LaSalle University. She is married and has nine adult children.

Merrill Darlington is currently employed by the San Bernardino County Department of Mental Health as a Psychologist along with a part-time private practice. Merrill received his Ph.D. from the University of Oregon.

Theodore Lindley retired from the United States Air Force and is presently working as Chief of Security and Transportation, Military Management CmD.E.

Beverly (Winterhaldez) Tignor received her Ph.D. from New School for Social Research and is currently a clinical psychologist and founder of Morris County Psychologist.

Ann (Parker) Daunic is an assistant scholar on the University of Florida faculty in the special education department and is project director on a federally funded grant concerning the reduction of aggressive behavior in older elementary students. She received her MS in psychology from Tufts U. in '70 and a Ph.D. in special education from UF in '96. She and her husband Joel Daunic '65, a financial planner with Mass. Mutual, live in Gainesville, FL and have two sons.  (8/99)

Barbara (Ott) Chavious is presently Director of Alumni Affairs at the School of Public Health, University North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Barbara previously worked as a social worker for county DDS and genetic counselor for NC State Health Department. She received her MPH from UNC Chapel Hill.

Carol (Crain) Lytle has three children Tom 19, Jay 16, and Courtney 14.

Kathy (Treiber) McNally is a guidance counselor at the North Shore School District in Glen Cove, NY. Kathy received her MA from Long Island University.

Arthur VanGundy in addition to having written eight books on creativity and problem solving, is a Professor of Communication at University of Oklahoma. Arthur received his Ph.D. from Ohio State University.

Ruth (Hipple) Maki is a Professor and Chair of the Psychology Department at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. She is also the Chair of the Examining Board for the Psychology Graduate Record Exam (GRE). Dr. Maki received her Ph.D. from the University of California-Berkeley. She is a leading researcher on metacognition of comprehension, a topic that has great theoretical and practical importance in education. (12/02)

Denis Buchholz has a six year old son named Paul. Denis has a private practice in Louisville as a Clinical Neuropsychologist along with being Associate Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery at University of Louisville School of Medicine and Director of Training Louisville Veterans Administration. Denis received his Ph.D. from Ohio State University in Physiological Psychology.

Deborah Musselman Griffiths is the director of legislative affairs for the Pennsylvania Department of Health.  She and her husband live in Mechanicsburg, PA and are the proud parents of two grown children.  Her daughter is a Political Science major at Hollins College and her son is a computer web designer in Washington, DC.   Deborah has a MS degree (1973) in experimental psychology from Penn State University.  (updated 7/99)

Deborah Brautigam is Associate Professor at American University. Deborah returned to OWU last January to give the John Eddy Memorial lecture. She says it was great to be back. Deborah received her Ph.D. from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.

Holly Hickson is on the faculty of a community college in Tennessee.  She has her Ph.D. degree and is a licensed psychologist.  She reports that her work "has always been service-oriented, but my teaching is grounded in the love for psychology as a discipline which I learned in your department and specially in your classes."  3/00

Mitzi Gail Leedy began a new career this fall as professor of social work in the School of Applied Studies at Washburn University in Topeka, KS. Mitzi received her Ph.D. in physiological psychology from Tulane University and returned to Ohio Wesleyan after a postdoctoral fellowship at UC Davis to work in the Psychology Department's vision lab. She left OWU again for a research position in the Anatomy Department at OSU where she later began working on her MSW degree.

Melanie Gay Master is a clinical assistant professor and Director of Intensive Language Intervention Clinic at the State University of NY at Buffalo. Melanie received her MA from the University of Cincinnati and her Ph.D. from the Statue University of NY at Buffalo.

Julie McGillivray is an Occupational Therapy Supervisor at Smith Clinic of Marion, OH.

Daniel Wise received his M.S. in Military History in 2000 and is working for IIT Research Institute, AB Tech Group, Aleandria, VA. He is working as a senior defense analyst on various US Air Force projects providing studies and analysis to validate Air Force strategic and operational concepts in support of the Department of Defense. He is currently a Lieutenant Colonel (AChief of Reserve Component Plans) in the US Air Force. He served 13 years as a fighter pilot that included tours in the Middle East and is currently living in Annapolis, MD. (11/02)

Lin Hickcox Sigler has been married to Andy Sigler '81 for 14 years.  She has spent those years moving often, due to Andy's career as a F-A/18 pilot in the U.S. Navy.   They have an 11 year-old daughter and 9 year-old son and recently moved to the D.C. area.  Lin is currently pursuing a master's in education as a reading specialist.   11/00

Lynn Cook Bender is the mother of two daughters, Hope (3) and Faith (1) and has stayed home to raise her children.  She has helped start a new church.  Her husband along with two partners started their own computer services company.  (12/00)

Catherine Ann Cantone is working for Pharmacia and Upjohn Pharmaceuticals in the public relations area.  The focus of her position is oncology and she reports that in addition to publicity for the company she has worked closely with cancer advocate groups supporting them in a corporate capacity in order to help cancer patients and their families.  She is recently engaged and begun planning for her wedding.  (12/00)

Jill Daly is doing a Post-Doc in Neuropsychology at San Francisco General Hospital. Jill received her Ph.D. in psychology from Southern Illinois University.

Christina (Littlejohn) Henkel is a Behavior Specialist with Kennedy Krieger Institute. She and her husband Christopher are expecting their first child in September '95. Christina received her MA in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University.

Lori (Vener) Johnston is Manager of Client Services with CSC Research and Advisory Services and Special Events Planner for a research service for information systems executives. Lori says she and her husband Bob have no children YET!

David Paul is a full-time faculty member at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston.  He is active as a volunteer instructor at C.P.R., Advanced First Aid, and Basic Life Support with the American Red Cross.  David is an avid skier, 10-year member and instructor with the National Ski Patrol and Sunday River Ski Resort in Maine.  (12/00)

Jennifer Helwick Shafter is the mother of two children and continues to work occasionally as a genetic counselor while working at home raising her children. (12/00)

Jenny Turner is a Behavior Analyst with Medplex Rehab in Seattle. She has worked as a behaviorist in brain injury rehab and now works in a developmental center with people with MR/DD, coupled with behavior disorders. Jenny came back to OWU for Alumni weekend 1995 and visited with the department. (12/00)

Adam Holtzschue is in North Carolina with First Union National Bank as a Commercial Underwriter. Adam received his MBA from Wake Forest University.

Barbara (Hiestand) Ledford is a Program Coordinator with John Randolph Hospital Psychiatric/Recovery Services. Barbara and husband Robert are proud parents of son Carter Joseph born 5/5/95. She received her MSW from Virginia Commonwealth University and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Eunice Sawin Parsons - Married to Daniel Parsons and they have adopted two children Joli (6) and Samuel (5). Eunice worked with the mentally ill and as a medical assistant for a surgeon prior to being a stay-at-home Mom with a family daycare in the home.

Cara Wellman is a research scientist and adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. Dr. Wellman received her Ph.D. from Indana University in 1993 and following a two year postdoctoral fellowship in Neurobiology at Amgen in Thousand Oaks CA she returned to Indiana University. Her research interests include age-related changes in neurochemistry and morphology of the frontal cortex and the plasticity of brain to age and stress. (1/2004)

Stuart Bodager is an project manager in Scudder Kemper Investments' technology department.  This Spring Stuart and his wife, Karen, became the proud parents of their first child, Benjamin Frederick Bodager.  All are happy and healthy and are trying to adjust to the "lack of sleep."  Stuart has done advanced study in computer science at Boston University.  Karen is a VP with Bank Boston. Kristin (Koehler) Alexander received her MSW (Clinical) from Fordham University and is in private practice/consulting providing social service to low-income housing residents. She and her husband, Gilbert, live in New Haven, CT.

Lydia Barse is a first grade teacher at The Harbor School in Bethesda, MD. Lydia received her MA.T. in Elementary Education from Simmons College.

John Carr married Sarah E. Fisher OWU '94. John is working on his MSW at Hunter SSW and employed at New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center as a psychiatric technician.

Patricia Ann (Schullery) Corso has been married for 14 years (Mark) and has three children. Mackenzie (1994), Madison (1998) and Jack (2001). She has a masters in counseling from Western CT State University and is currently enrolled in the Ed.D program in Instructional Leadership at Western. She is a MS teacher in Sherman, CT. (12/2005)

Natalie (Fravel) Hoague and husband Michael live in Delaware, OH.

Michael Salvatore is completing his fourth year of postdoctoral work at the University of Kentucky in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology where he is focusing his research on Parkinson's disease and aging. He has a paper coming out in the J. of Neurochemistry that describes a molecular mechanisms for a promising therapy for Parkinson's disease. His research involves putamental (basal ganglion) delivery of glial cell line-derived neurotropic factor (GDNF). Dr. Salvatore received his Ph.D. in neuroscience in 2000 from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans.  He reports that he loves his work and has offered assistance to students like himself who were "seriously considering medical school but may be on the fence with regard to a career in research."    You can contact Mike through his web address at msalv2@uky.edu  (10/2004)

Steven Herron will be married to Jill Wessell in October of '95. Steven is an Associate Attorney (criminal defense, domestic relations, PI) with Altick & Corwin in Dayton, OH. He received his law degree from Capital Law School in Columbus, OH.

Derrick Kiger married Melanie, and is pursuing his Ph.D. in higher Education at Bowling Green State University. Derick is employed at Owens Community College in Institutional Research.

Tracy Ann Curtis works in San Francisco at the Gap headquarters where she is responsible for international organization and leadership development.  She reports that she enjoys the seasonless sunshine and colorful blossoms of Northern California as well as her two spotted hounds and two orange cats.  She lives in the little coastal town of El Granada with her partner, Barry.  (12/00)   

Amy Ballantyne Darcy is married and has two children.  She lives in a Chicago suburb and has been working as a child and family counselor until this past spring when she became a stay-at-home mom.  (12/00)

Lisa Davis is working towards her M.Ed. in community counseling while being a Licensed Social Worker at Portage Children's Center in Akron. She has three children: Ryan, age 6, Kelly, age 2.5, and Rachel, 1 year.

Nozomi Minowa has completed her doctorate degree in clinical psychology ('97), postdoctoral fellowship in child clinical ('98).  She is married and living in Toronto. (12/00)

Heather Platt '90 recently received a Master's Degree in Orientation and Mobility from San Francisco State University and has been working at the Carroll Center for the Blind for over two years. Michelle Trimble is presently Coach/Instructor at Lake Erie College. Michelle has completed an MS in Physical Education from Ithica College and will be pursuing her Ph.D. in Urban Education, Counseling at Cleveland State University.

Nicole Snell Wagner is a psychology intern at the University of Akron and lives in Cleveland with her husband Steven Wagner. Nicole received her MA in counseling psychology from The Ohio State University and anticipates her Ph.D. from OSU in 1996.

Heather Fry successfully defended her dissertation in June, 2004 at The Ohio State University earning a Ph.D. in counseling psychology. Sonya M. Kahlenberg is an anthropology graduate student at Harvard University.  She is finishing her disseration in anthropology at Harvard. Her disseration research has been on chimpanzee behavioral ecology in Uganda. She is currently working for a non-proof organization called the Great Ape World Heritage Species Project, which is based in Cambridge. She is working with the UN to evlate apes to a higher international conservation satus.   (1/06)

Archana Sheth has been accepted into the neuroscience program - Brain, Behavior, and Cognition - at Boston University. She will be studying spatial memory and cognition in rats with amygdala lesions that lead to deficiencies in the hippocampus.

Glenda Wucher gratuated from the University of Michigan School of Social Work and the Sol Drachler Program in Jewish Communal Leadership in 05 with a Master's Degree in Social Work and a Certificate in Jewish Communal Service and Judiac Studies. She will be moving to DC to begin her next adventure. In July she will start her new job as the Assistant Director of the Hillel at the University of Maryland at College Park.

Karin Greathouse is currently teaching Non-Categorical pre-K and kindergarten inclusion in the greater New Orleans areas as a Teach for America corps member. The program is a national corps that is working to eliminate educational inequity by rallying our most promising future learders - recent college graduates - to teach for two years in urban and public schools and to become lifelong advocates for educational change. Nicole Makarenco after graduation has been busy. She worked at UCLA in a neursocience lab for a while, then a proteomics lab, then in real estate in California before heading north to the University of Oregon to become a post bac fellow in speech / language pathology. During her fellowship she worked in a brain development lab doing ERP studies on low SES and language impaired children. She also ran a battery of behavioral tests and intervention programs on these children. This year Nicole has headed south again to San Diego State University to work on a Master's degree in speech pathology. (11/2005)
