Mark Schwartz
Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science

Dr. Schwartz joined the department in 1986. His primary teaching interests include calculus, differential equations, real analysis, and complex variables. In recent years, he has taught seminars and courses in geometry and differential geometry. Professionally, Dr. Schwartz is interested in applications of computer software to mathematics, particularly in calculus, differential equations, and geometry.

Research Interests
Dr. Schwartz has a number of recent publications on applications of differential geometry to solve problems in optimization. In addition, he has worked with students on such problems in OWU's Summer Science Research Program. Dr. Schwartz wil be on sabbatical in Spring, 2010, during which he plans to continue his research in geometry and differential geometry.
Outside Interests
Dr. Schwartz participates in various athletic events and competitions including swimming, bicycling, running, and triathlons. He enjoys spectator sports, movies, and reading for pleasure.
