Personality and Assessment

Instructor: Harvey Freeman

Every person is in some ways (a) like all other persons; (b) like some other persons; (c) like no other person.  As fellow members of the human race, you and I share many basic similarities, but each of us believes ourself to be unique in essential ways.  In this course, we will attempt to understand both the universal and the unique in persons.  We will look at human personality both from a variety of theoretical perspectives and from an applied standpoint. In addition, we will examine the procedures and devices utilized by those who attempt to measure the constructs postulated by these theories.   In order to stimulate student interest and involve them more deeply in the subject matter and to enable them to evaluate themselves on many of the concepts discussed in class, self-assessment will be an integral part of this course.
