Mission Statement
Phi Alpha Theta is “a professional society whose mission is to promote
the study of history through the encouragement of research, good
teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among
historians. It seeks to bring students, teachers and writers of history
together for intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist
historical research and publication by our members in a variety of
ways.”

Requirements for Membership
To be inducted to Ohio Wesleyan’s Epsilon Zeta chapter of Phi Alpha
Theta, undergraduate students must complete at least four courses in
History (12 semester hours) and achieve a GPA greater than 3.1 in those
classes. In addition, students must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or
better, and be in the top 35% of the class. Members need not be
History majors.
