About Delta Zeta
Purpose
The purpose of this sorority shall be to unite its members in sincere and lasting friendship, to stimulate one another in the pursuit of knowledge, to promote the moral and social culture of its members and to develop plans for guidance and unity in action.
History
The Delta Zeta sorority was founded on October 24, 1902 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The six young women who helped found Delta Zeta were Alfa Lloyd, Anne Keen, Mabelle Minton, Anne Simmons, Julia Bishop and Mary Collins. With the help of Dr. Guy Potter Benton, the university president at the time, a constitution was written for an organization that would provide friendship and social activities simiar to those provided by the male fraternities during that period.
The Alpha Rho chapter of Delta Zeta was installed at Ohio Wesleyan University on April 23, 1989.
