The Historian is currently one of the largest circulation history journals in the world, with approximately 13,500 subscribers. Each quarter we review 75 books on topics covering the Americas, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, as well as books of a General, Comparative, and Historiographical nature. We are one of only two journals to cover all temporal and geographical areas of history, with book reviews, articles, and photo essays.

Our electronic database of reviewers is organized by keyword. If you have not reviewed for us nor registered in the past, you can complete registration form by clicking on the "register as a reviewer" link at left. Select  keywords that best reflect your research expertise and interests.

Below, you can find links to our style sheets, house style of editing (how you can expect your review to be edited prior to publication, that is), and some general tips and pointers for book reviewers.

If you want to know whether or not your review has appeared in print yet, click on the "Reviews in Press" link to the left.
