National Fraternity
"I don't think that you can have brotherhood in a vacuum.  You have to give of yourself to somebody else, and unless you give of yourself, you will never reap the true feeling of brotherhood." - Ralph Burns

Our Mission Statement
Brotherhood is the development of lifelong human relationships based on respect, mutual love and support. Alpha Sigma Phi provides opportunities for its members to experience Brotherhood through the creation and maintenance of Chapters. By experiencing Brotherhood, the members of Alpha Sigma Phi grow stronger intellectually, emotionally, socially, physically and spiritually, thereby becoming more empowered to enrich society and improve the quality of life. Alpha Sigma Phi will have succeeded when its members are successful in developing lifelong, meaningful relationships that enrich society and improve the quality of life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the requirements to join the house?
In order to receive a bid from Alpha Sigma Phi you must have at least a 2.5 GPA, and, of course, have a good relationship with the Brothers of the house.

What is required of me during the pledging process?
During the pledging process, which lasts no longer than 7 weeks, you learn the history of the Fraternity and what it means to be an Alpha Sig.  Every week you will meet as a group with the Pledge Educator.  At these meetings you will discuss the reading and be quizzed on the material.

What are the advantages of living in the house?
You get to live in a place with your Brothers, which strengthens Brotherhood.  Other advantages include a larger living space, a full kitchen and a chef who cooks lunch and dinner Monday through Thursday, a state of the art study room with computers, scanners, and printers, and a rec room in the basement with a big screen TV, pool table, and couches.

What's the difference between the Fraternity meal plan and my current one?
The difference between the Fraternity meal plan and the middle meal plan is roughly $200.  This may seem like a lot, but it's well worth it.  Our chef, Sharon, cooks homemade lunches and dinners for us on Monday through Thursday.  In addition to that you will have free reign of our extensive kitchen facilities, including the refrigerator and freezer that are always stocked with food.

What happens when/if I become a brother?
Once you become a Brother there isn't anything you can't do.  You can and are encouraged to participate in as many extracurricular activities as possible.  We also plan Service, Brotherhood, Social, and Athletic events through the Fraternity.  The Brothers that plan these and other events are referred to as The Chair of that position.  Elections for said positions take place in the second semester.

If I join, am I required to live in the house?
As of now, yes.  This will change when our members exceed the capacity of the house.  In that case, you will most likely live in the dorms or SLU's.  While you will most likely be required to live in the house, you are not required to move up immediately.  If you join in the Fall Semester you don't have to move up until the next year.

Is the house dry?
No.  Anyone over the age of 21 can drink and store alcohol in their rooms.
