My name is Aaron McCown. I am a Junior at Ohio Wesleyan University. I am from Boston, MA and proud of it, but my true geographical love is for the American West. My mom is from Hastings, Nebraska and I spent many a summer out there as a little kid. I am quite sure this is where my interest in the West stems from. Sadly, I have not spent a whole lot of time in the Western USA. Besides Nebraska, I've been to Texas a few times (Dallas and San Antonio, the latter of which I especially enjoyed, mainly because of the food), New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and Washington State. New Mexico I visited for an astronomy trip Senior year of High School and I simply fell in love with the Southwest. Colorado was just for a family trip; it was okay, but I only saw Denver and CO Springs, and being a self-proclaimed mountain man, this was not enough. Wyoming was awesome, but desolate. Despite loving remote places, it was too much for me. And finally, I visited Washington State this last summer...
NOLS was fun, but next I'd love something a little more extreme. I'm dying to do Boulder Outdoor Survival School (BOSS), which is a month in the woods/deserts/mountains of Southern Utah, but with only a wool blanket, poncho, knife, and cup. Crazy? What can I say, I love this kinda stuff
